About Us

We are an active funder and champion of the role played by the affordable non-state sector in complementing state provision to meet national education goals

We’re agile enough to fund and invest in programs and organizations where an assumed risk may prevent other donors participating.

‘Rafiki Elimu’ which is a Swahili statement that means Friends of Education, is a non-profitable organisation established in 2016 by academicians within the Zanzibar community, Tanzania. The purpose of its formulation is geared at establishing a collective educated society in Zanzibar with the aim of promoting professionalism regardless of religion, colour, race and political views.

Rafiki Elimu is the most growing NGO in islands working to support education to the under privileged children in Zanzibar. Every year we reach thousands of children in both rural urban areas through range of intervention programs including train of trainer (ToT), teaching and spreading awareness, school books distribution and library creation.
